Hello,
While in Belgium, they celebrate Mardi Gras, while in Venice takes place a famous Carnival, today within UK, it’s Pancake Day, in other words the tradition to make and eat pancakes on Shrove Tuesday.
Shrove Tuesday (’shrove’ stems from old English word ’shrive’, meaning ‘confess all sins’) is the day before Lent.
In Belgium, we usually eat pancakes on 2 February each year; it’s what we call the “Chandeleur”, which symbolizes the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple in the Catholic religion.
But let’s go back on track. For this special occasion, we invited our neighbours to share pancakes with us tonight and we’ll probably try new toppings such as lemon on our pancakes…
Here is my pancake recipe for tonight:

(For 30 pancakes)
Ingredients:
7 eggs
700 g all-purpose flour
1, 5 l (whole) milk
4 soup spoons melted butter
½ glass of beer
1 pinch of salt
2 teaspoons vanilla sugar
Directions:
In a large bowl, sift together the flour, salt and sugar. Make a well in the centre and pour in the milk, the beer, eggs and melted butter; mix until smooth.
My secret to succeed: an extremely hot pan.
Enjoy!
